The Moon
The day wears on…
The day’s journey is uneventful. But as we walk, we are conscious of a pale light moving somewhere to our west. Soon we identify the source: it is the full moon reflected in the Mire, drifting like a ship against the sea of the sky.
The moon follows us long into the afternoon. Even as dusk falls, its pallid glow pursues us, persisting long beyond the rays of the sun.
The day passes without incident.
