The Peddler
The day wears on…
The day’s walk is easy enough. Towards afternoon, we descend into a ruined village. As we pass between the houses, overgrown by trees and lichens, we see that one looks untouched by age. Its awning stands whole and unpatched, while its sign gleams with fresh paint: Merchant and Wares.
Curious, we duck within. A man stands in the shop’s back. His voice, when he speaks, has the slither of a snake. “Ah! New customers. It’s been some time since I saw new faces here. I’ll cut you a limited deal. The Wood’s denizens are my clientele. I can put in a good word for you — for a price.”
He grins. Behind the mouldered teeth, we see nothing but darkness.
The Peddler’s Shop
The peddler can sell travellers Bargains at a price of one Item.
Travellers may discuss freely.
Then, clockwise starting with the Reader, each traveller can choose to TRADE or REFUSE.
If a traveller chooses to trade, they must immediately discard one of their Items.
Then, shuffling the deck, they draw a random Elder Card. This becomes their new Bargain.
When all travellers have chosen, continue below.

Nodding, we thank the merchant. “Good luck,” he grins — but his words seem more of a threat than a comfort. Ducking from the shop, we set off down the ruined street. When we next glance back, the shop — and its sign — are gone.
Success. If at least one traveller traded, the Peddler is pleased with his business. The last traveller to trade gains the Peddler as a Bargain.
Failure. If no travellers made a trade, the party suffers the Curse of the Peddler. Take this spirit's card and place it in a designated area on the table so everyone can see it. If this is the party's third Curse, click here
Re-form the deck before continuing.
