The Reader reads. Other travellers follow along on their devices.
As we plunge ever deeper into darkness, we feel the pall of the Wood fall over us. Now, little by little, we begin to perceive Him — His eyes watching us, His hands holding us. Finally, we understand the terrible truth: we were fools to come here, to His garden, to His house. We were fools to think that we could escape His clutches.
And then…
The branches part, and He is there. The Lord of the Wood, the demon-god older than time itself, stands before us. As He turns His gaze upon us, we are filled with joy and fear. His face is a wondrous sight. A terrible sight. The sort of sight that might be a person’s last.
The Lord of the Wood is a being of pure magic and power. He appears in different forms to every traveller’s eye, reflecting their own fears and desires back at them.
Clockwise starting with the Reader, each traveller takes it in turns to describe how the Lord of the Wood appears to them.
