The Strongman

We make our way along a winding hill path, rising and falling to the landscape’s quiet rhythm.

Towards dusk, our limbs limp with fatigue, we stumble across a sorry scene. In the basin of a green dell lies a hulking skeletal figure, half-crushed by a great boulder. It seems that the poor man had been trying to roll the boulder up the hill, only to meet his maker under its roll.

The rock is huge, but not immoveable. If we all worked together, to the last, perhaps we could free the poor soul…

The day wears on…

The Conundrum

Will you expend the last of your energy to free the trapped corpse, or save your strength?

  • The travellers may discuss between themselves.

  • Then, clockwise starting with the traveller with the Reader, each traveller may take it in turns to choose whether to THROWN IN to move the boulder, or CONSERVE THEIR ENERGY instead.
